lucky luke at nugget gulch on 30 layout
#1
I had an old project 2 years before of a western spaghetti layout that I postponed. Finally, I come back with a similar layout lucky luke on 30 layout based on LUCKY LUCK strip cartoon. The overall dimension is 2m long for 45 cm wide for the boxed layout plus an oval to create a continuous loop.

This is the mock-up. I will do a mix between a true  traditional layout and the strip cartoon. It's not so easy because the code and the rules are different.

I have to create the background for each building. The buildings come from Atlas collection and I have more than 50 figurines from the strip cartoon. They are more or less at the scale of 1/48. We'll get all the clichés of the cartoon strip.

Not familiar with that cartoon, but your layout could be the spitting image of some places here in Arizona. 2285_ Blaster

I modify a little bit my mock up.  For the hill, it's just in order to have an idea. The first tunnel is for the mine and I reality the track for the mine will be 1 inch lower. I will check the mock up during this week  and if I'm satisfied the next week I will lay the tracks.

Don't hesitate to share your feeling about the layout.

Looking good, and don't worry, I think folks around here usually give their honest assessments.  I've gotten some feel good comments and I've made changes to my layouts based on other helpful and constructive comments.

I add the figures to capture the mood. I have all the figures of the cartoon strip with all the western cliche. They are shinny but I will coat them with a mat varnish.

That is so cool and very appropriate for what you're doing. Puts a whole new prospective on building a layout. Love those characters. Applause Applause

That is really neat!!!!
Now, if I was doing something like that it would have to be Rock Ridge from Blazing Saddles.
Keep up the great work!!!!

Hi,

I have done little progress because I'm very busy with containment,  telecommuting and try to find food in store in Paris.

I have finish the track laying, electricity and I motorise the turn out.

Nicely done.. I always had a soft spot for old West railroads and towns. I've often wondered where my modeling interest would be today if as a Teenager I bought AHM 4-4-0s and old time freight cars and modeled the old West. That thought has been in the back of my mind for decades and reemerged with Bachmann's line of HOn30.

Looking good Franck, this would be a good contender if it was in our current build challenge. There's still time to enter.....
