As a part 2 to my challenge i will be taking two old Tyco flat cars and turning them into something more acceptable. They are not really bad models they just need some updating. So new decks, wheel sets, coupler boxes, grabs, paint, and maybe loads.

Stripped of molded details, decks, and trucks, into the rubbing alcohol they went. truck mounted coupler boxes were removed and journals cleaned up with a truck tuner from micro mark.

At this point I am dropping out of the challenge.. My grandmother was placed into hospice care two weeks ago and I have been spending a lot of time visiting her. I have had no time to to do any modeling work or the stomach to do so. I thank everyone for their replies and wish all the others involved the best of luck.

Steve---you're a good and caring man, spending time with important people in your life is a priority at this time---enjoy the return to your modelling when you need a break.

I'm very sorry to hear this. Trains can wait. I'm glad you get to spend time with your grandmother during these times.
