...and here's the crane coupled to a my track cleaning car (masonite block underneath). The crane is a Tyco that was originally painted red and lettered for the Santa Fe.

Wow that is a neat track cleaning car. Was it a comercial piece of self built? I like MOW equipment. Good pic of crane.

Its a commercial track cleaning car that originally had a motor in the cab that spun two posts with little sponges on the bottom that rubbed the track. The motor wasn't working when I got it so I removed it and the sponges, and then glued a piece of masonite to the posts so it glided along the tracks to pick up dust.
The car was lettered for the Southern Pacific so I painted and lettered it for the Penn Central.

Ralph,

On the rare occasion I get a few moments to stop by here on The Gauge- well I will reiterate my like for your approach, style and cleverness.

Thanks,

With that E-unit, I had trouble figuring what I was seeing. At first, it reminded me of Australian GM cab units which have Flexicoil trucks. Then "no, why does it have GE trucks?" Then "oh... the trucks don't match."
Fan of late and early Conrail... also 40s-50s PRR, 70s ATSF, BN and SP, 70s-80s eastern CN, pre-merger-era UP, heavy electric operations in general, dieselized narrow gauge, era 3/4 DB and DR, EFVM and Brazilian railroads in general... too many to list!
