I've ordered the MRC Prodigy Advance Squared and notice on Tony's here there is a notice about the power supply being de-rated to 2.5 amps and recommending the use of an MF615 power supply to get the full 3.5 amps of power that MRC claims the unit will support. The MRC site states that the power supply that comes with the unit is a 15 Volt DC rated at 3.5 amps. This site states that the Magna Force 615 is a 15 volt AC unit rated at 5 amps.

My question is this: If I connect the Magna Force to my MRC system, will it cause a problem since I've gone from DC to AC?

Thanks in advance,

-g
I'm not familiar with the MRC unit, but if it is wired to work with a DC input, plugging AC into it will probably let the smoke out. 2.5 amps is quite suitable for a small-medium sized layout with capacity to run at least 3 locos at the same time (or "motors"...) If that's not enough in your case, I would look for a higher rated DC unit.

Good luck...and let us know how you make out.... Thumbsup

BTW...Welcome to "Big Blue".... Welcome
Your best bet is here http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MRC-DCC/ These guys are almost as nice as this group and know MRC/DCC inside and out. One of MRC's technicians is onboard most of the time. I belong to the group and recommend it for MRC
