I was viewing my photobuckt album this afternoon and i noticed i had close to 30 separate albums that could be combined and organized better to find things easier. i started re-arranging the albums (for example: putting all layout and module albums under one main album, with sub-albums for each layout or module in the main album).

Well i wasnt paying attention, and i didnt bother to read that ALL THE LINKS GET BROKEN WHEN MOVING THEM! Wallbang Wallbang Wallbang Man did i screw up, i was on the last album that i was moving when i finally read the warning! Wallbang Wallbang Wallbang Man this really sucks, im not sure i can take the time to re-do all my threads and fix all the picture links, i mean i have a few threads that have 100-150 pictures at least in them, that would take hours to go through and fix them all Wallbang Wallbang Wallbang

Well my photobucket album is all nice and organized now, but now im screwed in all the threads i have with pictures in them, here and on all the other forums i belong to Eek Ohhh man, i need to get off the computer and take a break and go grab a bite to eat, i might just loose it if i dont 35
Yep, user beware.

Your pics are all tied to a specific URL, for example: myusername/picture-1.jpg

When you create another album and move a picture, the URL changes: myusername/myalbum/picture-1.jpg

Therefore, every single link to that particular picture becomes broken. Better get used to seeing this for awhile:

Owwww! Eek

call me old fashioned, but I still load my photos as attachments to my post. It seems easier to me as I don't have to fool with another website with another username and another password :ugeek:. If anyone would rather me work through a photo hosting site, let me know and I will just get used to the change Goldth
Me too. I just upload as an attacthment.
Its easier for me than trying to remember the link.
Easiest way I've figured out is to fid the thread where you posted the pic and Edit the first post with the album Folder link, and just apologize and tell them to look there at the link
I use Photbucket also but I've only got one album and EVERYTHING is thrown in one place. I've thought about organizing it like you did but I also did not want to go back and fix any and all picture links. Fix 'em a little at a time and it won't seem so bad. Before you know it, you'll be all caught up.
I was ABOUT to do the same thing with my pics in PB'ket, but just when I was getting ready to "organize" I saw the little warning.....Dodged that bullet..... Eek
I also dodge that bullet..

I use photobucket so I can resize pictures etc since I don't have photoshop.
well i got a tip from a guy on another forum that if i contacted customer service @ Photobucket, they would be able to help me and repair my links for me while keeping the pictures how i have them organized now. He said as long as i did not delete any of the pics from photobucket that now have broken links on the forums, they should be able to repair them all and keep it all the same as it is organized now in my albums on photobucket. So we will see what the say, im keeping my fingers crossed

i was uploading directly to the forum when i first joined it a few years back, but i started using photobucket for a couple reasons.

1) i have TONS of pics, im talking over 2000 that i have posted over the past couple years, im a picture addict LOL. I dont wanna clog down the forum by hosting them all here.
2) I usually post the same threads on a few different forums, and when inserting the links for the pics on one forum, i can usually just copy the entire post and paste it on the other forum, picture links and all, without having to re-type or re-insert the links. Saves time and its usually what i do for my layout/module threads and structure build threads
3) i can have everything on one organized place on the web (well now its organized at least lol). I also have all the pictures on my computer saved in I-Photo
You may call it old fashioned, direct uploading to the post, vice photohosting, but...... I had to go to all my "hosted" posts, and correct all the links when the "photohost" s h u t d o w n !!! It's still an "extra step" to upload to a hosting site, and then add the "link" to the post. All the work I did on the Finescale site is Photobucket hosted. So, in addition to the model building, there was the uploads to photobucket, and writing all the links into the posts.

One of the things that was so attractive about the gauge, was the ability to upload photos directly.....and yes, I do have a photoshop program for resizing.
I transfer photos from the digital camera, process in photoshop, save to disk, and then have them to upload where and when I need to. All the photos I have on "other boards" are on disk. I don't have to link to the "other sites" to post them here.
