When I was putting the industries down on my layout,I had one spot where I could put a small building. Well after in was in and scenery added I could never make up my mind what I wanted it to be used for so I took a different approach,I boarded it up.Here's the end result.

well done, looks good to me Thumbsup
I think an occasional boarded up building always looks good on a layout. Thumbsup

Thanks guys.
Ralph-I couldn't agree more. Blame it on the economy. Not every building needs a purpose, besides I think it adds some character.
Bob
I hear that's where they put Hoffa. :?
The boarded up "could be anything" building. Every layout needs one of those. If you put some kind of ambiguous sign on it, it would even get people guessing more Goldth The chain across the vacant lot is a nice touch.
That's a pretty good idea! Throw in a few old tires and a garbage can or two and you've got yourself a real forgotten building. Nice idea!

Tetters-I'll never tell.
Kevin,Herc-some good ideas. The addition of some small details not only here but to my other scenes will do a lot to enhance them. This is about where I am with the layout.
Bob
Wait! I know that building!!! That's where the remains of the Rozwell UFO is hidden!!! Eek Eek

Popcornbeer Uh huh, I believe it. Icon_lol Icon_lol

Oh crap!! The secrets out. Now my industrial park is going to be over run sight seers. Guess I'll have to put up barbed wire fences and hire armed guards. Icon_lol

Naahh...Just haul the thing out to the parking lot and let the naysayers have their day.... Goldth
Looks good. Cheers
That is a nice touch!! It certainly does add character.

Thanks for the comments guys. It was just one of those deals where no matter what I thought of as a use for that building I didn't like so I turned it into an abandoned building. I still have more details to add around the layout so I will be posting pics as new progress is made.
Bob
The boarded up building. The dead tree. The remains of a foundation of a water tank.
The burned out remains of a trestle. The sunk and decaying boat or ship. The remnants of an old stone wall fence.

Little modeled, little noticed, but history none the less. Our scenes need a little "history", to look more natural. One of the most impressive details I've seen on one of the modules in the modular group I'm associated with, is a large tree, fallen some years ago, just about gone, but still recognizable as a once great tree.

............and add several holes in the ground, where "the curious" have been looking for "ET". Big Grin
