I dont know who was the better narrator, but Ihave to lean towards George Carlin,he was an interesting pick and seem to give the show something.

I'm still highly biased to Ringo for a couple reasons. One, he was English and two, because I like the Beatles (and he was the googiest of the Beatles as well)! ... John Lennon died in 1980 so I don't think he was ever involved in the show .... The show would be better (and funnier?) if they had British accents because everything else about the show is so British -- British scenery, stations, locos, coaches and freight cars, etc.

I guess that the show has to be Americanized to some extent so that it will "fly" over here. I know that they have also made British versions of American shows in the UK. For example, there was a British version of Blue's Clues (you'll only know what Blue's Clues is if you have very young children!).
