Do you ask us to design your dream layout? Could you be more specific in what you have, what you need and so on? How is your layout room laid out? (doors and windows). How much of the stations have you built? How much can you change? Maybe post some pictures?
Hi heres a baseboard size complyete with helix in alcove so as to give me a double decker layout to allow me to run all 6 of my european hight speed loco that mesure in at 1m 30cm so thats why i need 54 in platforms to allow to stop at .ike[attachment=2996]
Allright, I'll try to guess.

a. You have a layout room with room for a pretty big layout.
b. You have a number of European high speed trains of about 1,30m in length and need stations for those. I assume you want some German-style cities with a few large stations, maybe one on each level with a town. Do you have any other trains you want to run? Goods? Local passenger trains? Do the 6 high speed trains need to fit into one station at one time (thus requiring at least six track wide stations)?
c. what is the 54 number you need in platforms to stop?

"54 in" is the original poster's way of writing "54 inches". One inch equals 2.54 centimeter. A 130 cm train is 51.1 inches long. Or about 4 feet, 3 inches long. The 54 inches the original poster is talking about is about 3" (about 7.5) centimeters longer than this - 137-138 centimeters or so.

I notice that all measures (except that "54 in") are given in millimeters. Which is not necessarily the best idea when the original poster is asking a group consisting mostly of Americans for help - they tend to think in inches and feet rather than in centimeters and millimeters.

Good luck in helping the original poster.

Ah, inches it is. One learns to think in metric, feet and inches simultaneously, sometimes the notation confuses a bit. Oh, and back to topic, could you post any sketches you have made on the trackplan and the various givens and druthers.

'like industries, turntables, tunnels, bridges' sounds a bit general. It might work better to have an idea of a theme before embarking on constructing a mixed layout which allows none of the wanted features to be featured at any satisfactory level.
