e-paw, GEC and myself are planning on visiting the Mahanoy Tunnel and St Nicholas Coal Breaker, possible some other place depending on time and light. We might even stop in Ashland and Centralia
This thread is meant for the discussion and planning
Unfortunately the Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine http://www.pioneertunnel.com/ has ended in October

What do you say we try to make it the weekend after Thanksgiving?
Day sounds good to me
As for transportation I can have GEC meet up with me and we can pool over
Things to consider for the trip:
Flash light and batteries
Camera
Perhaps boots for certain surfaces we will be walking on
A backpack for carrying your stuff
I was looking into my GPS and it listed a bunch of diners that may be a good place to meet up. I think the breaker should be the first stop and then hit the tunnel later in the day, maybe after lunch. Hopefully it wont rain or snow... well play it by ear.
Hey, my mapping company mapped that site for the engineers who put them windmills up there.

That's cool, love looking at those things every time I'm in that area
Next weekend is the trip

It gets even bigger when you go inside.

Cool pics! The photo of the breaker is a nice resource or modeling such a structure. That first tunnel entrance looks very ominous!
The second tunnel looks just like how I'd like one of mine to look. I plan to use it as a reference. Thanks!

Opps, forgot to post my set
