Gee Whiz.

Where does one find this stuff locally? I've been the usual haunts, like Home Despot, Ruinya, Lowest, and Crappy Tire but cannot seem to find it. I find it hilarious that they all sell the RJ12 six and four pin connectors and the tools to strip, cut and crimp but no bloody wire! It's like selling a car without the spark plug wires or something and telling the buyer, "Good luck finding those!".

I'd like to have the option of making my own.

try a store that deals with cables, not maintaining them

Best Buy, Radioshack, or a cable retailer online

I'm thinking RadioShack. I know I bought about 100 feet somewhere. If it wasn't Radioshack, then it was Home Depot. Or was it Ralph's Electronic supply? Hmmm... somewhere?!

I'm surprised home depot doesn't have it, thats where I get mine from as well as the connectors. Its basicly 6 wire telephone line.

The Source really stinks now compared to what you can get from Radio Shack in the US. The worst thing is that you cannot even place an order on-line from Radio Shack. Blows big time.

I went to Active Surplus this afternoon. Sooo stupid of me. I did end up finding a local retailer that carries the stuff I needed and placed an order with them. THEN decided to check out Active Surplus. I could have bought all the stuff I need right then and there for LESS!!!! ah poop! I was like a kid in a candy store in there, even though I didn't buy anything. Worst thing is that this place is only like a ten minute walk from my office! I've seen the place, but always thought it was a army surplus store of some kind.

We have an Active electronics in Ottawa. Prices and selection are ok, but service not so much. I don't know if there is a Reset Electronics in T.O., but the one is Ottawa has great people.

I even got some wire there to make trees...! Yes, they looked at me funny at first, but when I explained, they gave me about 15 feet of stranded ~ 8 ga. wire with about 30 strands in it. Oh and it was free, because the coating was a colour that didn't sell very well.

If you need specific electric parts, there is a string of stores in Mississauga, on Matheson west of Dixie. One strip mall has about 3 stores of varying dustiness and organization.

Another good source for electronic gear is Sayal Electronics. I buy multi-pin connectors and various switches there, but they have all sorts of stuff that you'd probably find interesting. In my opinion, their prices are pretty good, too.

seems you guys stateside have real difficulty in finding bits like that- thats one thing I love as a electronics tech and hobbyist- we got a GREAT range of electronics suppliers here in .AU- my usual place I buy from (RS components) has literally hundreds of different LEDS to choose from

AFAIK they do have a stateside operation too thats mailorder..(could be wrong but i'm sure they have some kind of setup over there as they have uk and usa flags on some `rare' bits that have to be shipped to .au if you order them...)

If your looking for electronics parts etc. Why go to the retail outlets when you can order from the same place they do?
