Just a couple of questions...
I'm putting in a couple of 12v. grain of wheat bulbs hanging from the roof of the foundry, and need some lamp shades to "dress" them up. Any one have any ideas as to how to go about making them, and what material to use..?? Also, are LED's "dimmable"..??

These are the last two hurdles left to clear before "buttoning'er up"...

If you want to make lamp shades yourself, I would try small washers. But I don’t know if it is worth the effort. LEDs are dimmable. Any resistance in the circuit will dim them.

you can make shades by center drilling the material of choice and punch out a disk make a die(drill a small depression in a block of hard wood) a wood dowel rounded on the end pushed down on disk and walla a shade. and yes LED are dimmable but not to the amount of a incondencent bulb, however they do come in a great varity of
brightness.

Thamks for the info....It never ocurred to me that I could make them myself.....I have a small sheet of copper material somewhere, which I think might lend itself for the job. (gotta find it first)...and a punch to mark the circle out....Hmmm...off to the shop...

As luck would have it,, I couldn't find the copper sheet I know I have....So I settled for this...



Made them from a couple of eye-wash bottle caps I had laying around. I just know that the day I least expect it, I'll stumble across that %^&** copper sheet.... :evil:
