OK, It's a new forum so in case we get some one new I am shamelessly posting a few pictures of our locomotives.
Charlie
Charlie, that S1 looks FANTASTIC Thumbsup , but my question is, how is that EX-WSOR engine running for you? does it get much use?

THANKS for posting those Charlie Wink
Sure would be nice to know more about the operation. Railroads are more than just locomotives...
Can we see a track plan for your layout Smile Seriously though, plug away, I would like to know where your railroad goes, what it does.
We are just a small operation, 5.2 miles of track here in Schenley, Pa.
We service one customer currently, a Specialty steel mill in Bagdad, Pa.
We also do a scenic train in the summer and of course we do the Snowdog Express at Christmas.
I am full time and I have 2 part time employees. We also have 11 volunteers ranging in age from 18 to 78, all but 2 over 55 years old, and 3 70 or older. (these 70 year old guys can replace 20 ties in 3 hours the old fashioned way).
We use the S-1 in the summer for the passenger trains, and use the 752 in the winter. That way I can get out of service credits for each one for the inspections. We do as much of the work here as we can and we have very good track and nice clean equipment. The guys pride themselves in this.
We will be constructing another 7 miles of track in the near future to service a coal mine.

Thanks for your interest guys.

Charlie, I found your "layout" on Google maps http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=de&g ... 6&t=k&z=16 . That’s even better than a trackplan Goldth . Where does your line run from the staion, north along the river? And where is the steel mill? I’d really like to follow your ROW on the aerial.

Wow Kurt , that must have took you a while to find the layout via satelite. Icon_lol
Hey Lynn, you wanna try to find mine? Icon_lol
Thanks Kurt Worship

That is a great way to see where they run.

Wouldn't it be great to have a train layout big enough to use google earth to show it off. Big Grin

Charlie,
Thanks for the info. That is a great picture of your dog on the website. Thumbsup
If you load Google Earth, Go to Aladdin, Pa. Unfortunately Google puts Schenley on the wrong side of the Allegheny River, We are on the east side. Once it loads if you look left you will see a dam and looking south you will see the Kiski River. You will see a railroad bridge across the Kiski, That is ours and our track runs 1 mile North up the Allegheny river and 4 miles Southeast up the Kiski river The Steel Mill is up the Kiski. Our track continues past the mill about 7/10 of a mile.
On the South side of the Kiski River is the old PRR Conemaugh line that still sees about 15 heavy trains a day, and on the west side of the Allegheny, North of Freeport is the P&S, now BP that handles a lot of coal traffic. They interchange at Freeport with NS.
By the way, the dog does his own website. www.taffylaffy.com he tells a hell of a story at times. Big Grin
Thank you, Charlie, for the information.
Construction has begun on the track North along the Allegheny River to service the Logansport coal mine. Service is expected to begin this fall. The line will make the total trackage of the KJR over 14 miles. This section was removed in 1992.
Charlie
