This was taken just a few days before the big earthquake.

Charlie
That is just fabulous, Charlie. Icon_lol Icon_lol I was laughing out loud: it was almost like watching a Max Sennet film without the tinkly piano. I'm amazed that no one was killed on screen, although the horse right at the end of the clip must've come fairly close. I'm really surprised at the number of fine automobiles loaded with dandies, too, and the hooligans and daredevils, tempting fate.

My hat's off to whomever took the time to film this little slice of "how it was".

Wayne
Fascinating view of history, spotting the immigrants, the tradesmen, the salesmen and the self-important types, the Goodyear blimp cop at the beginning, the right-hand drive autos and the complete lack of traffic rules, and the dress fashions and hats.

Outstanding post! Thumbsup
That was really neat to watch. Facinating. Thumbsup
and I thought we had a problem with jaywalkers today! 2285_
WOW!!! Thanks, Charlie!! That was amazing!! Seven minutes and ten seconds back in time!!
The film says "streetcar" but i looks like cable car to me.
Note how close the cars on the other track get to each other. When we were there 2 weeks ago, the only places they got that thick were at the ends of the line, especially the Hyde turntable.
Great find Charlie! I enjoyed the time machine view of the city back then. It was amazing how many cars, horse carts, bikes, pedestrians, and other cable cars crossed in front of the camera! I was sure there was going to be an accident!

Ralph
WOW! Great stuff!

I really like the period clothes on the dandies..

To bad one can go back and stay 2-3 days..IMHO that would be fun.
