Bachmann has a track cleaning car (a tank car) that lists for $35.00.
Car came out in Oct or Nov 2009.
Uses "dry" wiping pads.
NO fluid is used.

Anyone have any experience using this car? Wondering how well it works.
This is Bachmann car:[attachment=4291]
Have some patience Richard. Some of the members only check in once a week or so, sooo, it might be a bit before you come across somebody that's actually got one. It looks like a nice car to have. I myself am into N scale and I love the track cleaning cars that have the pad on the bottom. Sometimes, I'll push two at a time ahead of the engine. If you get one, be sure to post a review of it in the review section for those of us who don't have one yet.
Is that a "wet" or dry pad..??
You could do the same thing yourself for less money. You could easily install a similar pad to the bottom of any cheap railroad car. The classic type has been the masonite rubbing pad like the John Allen design that can be put on any Blue box Athearn, Accurail, etc. If you want something like the Bachmann car, shape a Brite Boy track cleaner with a bevel at each end, and glue it to masonite block. If you have not heard of Model Railroad Hobbyist e-zine, go to http://www.Model-Railroad-Hobbyist.com. I either the 4th or current issue has an article on making a track cleaning car. You can read the mag online, or save it to your computer. You can also print out any article that you want to have in paper. I forgot to mention that MRH is free forever.
I just got one of the Bachmann track cleaning cars and will try it out and report. I made one of those Masonite pad cars also, and it works quite well. Bought the Bachmann from Micromart and it came with no instructions. What worries me most is replacement pads. The Bachmann website doesn't list the part. Anyone know what the deal is?
