I have used a yellow tape about 1/32 inch +- for highway stripes. I no longer have the tape and don't know how to get more. I need to make yellow strip that curves and is really thin, maybe 1/64. this is actually for an airplane that is to be used on my layout. If I manage to get this project don and it looks OK I will post it.
Try looking in any big auto parts store for 3M products - pinstriping tape. If that don't cut the mustard, try a store that carries automotive paint. If your desperate, stop by the local auto body shop and see if they have any scraps you can have!
I looked at their web site, 1/16 is as small as it gets

1/32" is as thin as it comes which should be fine for striping a roadway.
If you are using it for pin-striping an aircraft you should look at model aircraft decals.

We used to use Chartpak tape in the office all the time , so I Googled that and took a look ... how 'bout 1/64 x 648 matte yellow tape?
I'm sure it comes wider if you need it wider ... 8-)
