Snow plows, MU cables, model designations on the side cab, painted white number boards, plastic athearn handrails for the Geeps and SD's. For now I'm overall satified, but I was also thinking on adding atlas wipers and maybe some Lesile horns, I have one on already 8-)

The plows and MU cables were Details West.
That's quite a fleet you have there. Excellent details and great modeling. Thumbsup

This reminds me... the other day I saw a BNSF loco somewhat like the pic below (forgive me, I'm not up on modern diesel identification), but the door just above the ditch light had been replaced with a blue Conrail door that had "ail" and "ity" on it. I wonder what circumstances could have led to that? Unfortunately, I was driving in a location where I couldn't stop to get a photo.

Nice work with the details Tom! That's a great looking roster!

Excellent work on all the detailing Tom---that Conrail blue sure looks good---you've helped create another Conrail fan Thumbsup
Conrail fleet looks good! Thumbsup
Tom,
Love the collection! I used to be a serious Conrail guy but have since gone free lanced. Did you know that CR had a GP15-1 painted for Nike? With a swoosh and everything. But I can't find a good enough photo to use to model it. I saw a photo of it one time on the front of a Conrail employee magazine.

These two units swapped doors some time back, but the reason is beyond me. They must have both been receiving heavy repairs, in the same shop, at the same time, for something like this to happen.
Thanks, Puddlejumper. That's it! The unit was sitting 100 yards back from a grade crossing at a busy intersection. There was no place for me to stop and get a photo.
Good work, but don't forget the couple cut levers! they aren't to hard, you can either glue the levers straight to the bits molded on to the pilot, or use the supplied brackates and install them on the lever and then install them on the pilot like you would any other piece.

Another super easy, super cheap MAJOR conrail detail are the cab signal boxes. these typically sat on the right hand side of the short hood (engineers side?) they were typically the two-strap kind you can get from Detail Associates. I think its a dollar for a pair, or something of that nature. the Geeps and SDs would all likely have them.

Seriously? I've never even heard or such a thing, and i've been scouring for GP15-1 photos. do you have even a crappy photo, just so i can know i can see it to believe?

CR 1621. It was only painted that way for 1 day in the early nineties for a marathon that ran by the railroad tracks sponsored by Nike. I used to have an Conrail employee mag with it on the cover, but I donated to the owner of the Conrail cyclopedia, who now can't find said issue for me to scan it.

I think i'm gonna email Chris from the CRHS and see if he has an archive of CR magazines, maybe he has it.
Cheers They look great ,The cut levers would make a major improvement to the pilots and they are a quick and cheep fix up.
Great work Tom. It is amazing how just a few details can make such a big improvement Cheers
Very nice work and a great fleet. Cheers
Thanks for the comments guys Thumbsup

As for the cut levers I don't have enough yet to work on them all, and I totally forgot about the cab signal boxes 35

Did Conrail units get sold or go off lease when CSZ & NS took over? The only way I can see it happening is if the BNSF bought an ex-Conrail unit, and canabilized those doors before repainting it to BNSF colors.

Actually, in the case of these GEs, i'm willing to bet NS installed these doors. I frequently see NS and BNSF together, and i wouldn't be surprised that while running across the nation into NS territory, it needed a door and a conrail one was on hand.

However, several GP38s, including one PRSL unit, have went to BNSF and are still in Conrail blue, with WHITE Swoosh logos. I find it ironic that some odd-ball from Jersey is leading huge freights out west.

another GP38, but i'm not sure which conrail unit this was.
