Your link wasn't to a story.

Was this the story you were trying to link to?

Steven, Yes! I'm sorry the link I posted didn't work. It was the link I used to locate the story on the newspaper's website. But then, who knows why it didn't work. The Roanoke Times is slowly sliding downhill, as far as quality is concerned. They frequently mis-spell words, and twist words around in sentences that make the sentence impossible to decipher. I just hope that big Mannhiem Press they bought several years ago is paid for!!! I still intend to keep up my subscription, though!!
Robert McCabe Wrote:The tunnels, built about 1905, have stood at about 19.5 feet from track to ceiling. They need to be an average of 1.5 feet taller, including a 9-inch cushion, to accommodate the double-stack trains.
Can you imagine being a hobo stuck on top of one them containers going through them tunnels with 2'3" of clearance? I know it's not likely to happen in todays times but it used'ta! If it were me, stuck up there, I better hope to have a clean pair of britches to change into on the other side... if I made it out the other side!!!
Man, you'd have to make yourself flatter than a fritter!!!
