This last challenge we had was by far one of the most successful ever. And that is including everything we've done since starting our old forum back in 2000. it seems that bashing and scratchbuild challenges are in good favor with most modeler.

Now the question I have for you all is, what next? We are thinking of keeping the same theme of building something out of something else, but this time with structures. The last time we did a structure challenge, we had one in three parts, bashing, scratchbuild and kit build. This time we're thinking in terms of combining all three in one challenge. That is, build a structure, be it from scratch, from spare parts, bashing a few kits together, or just taking a kit as-is and adding your own touches to it. How does that sound? Like in the previous challenge, we can allow everyone to enter as many structures as they want, with no limit on size or scale. We would start the challenge around the middle of May and run it until Sept. 1. That should be plenty of time to get in some vacation time, keep the lawn mowed, get in some fishing time and still get a couple of structures built. 2285_

Sounds good to me. I have a GCLaser boathouse kit, that needs to be built for the new module set, and I will be modifying it slightly, for the intended use and finish. A mid May start is good timing for this project.
I'm in...great challenge. This time I have a cool crafstman kit AND a good camera for the pics Misngth
Let's just hope that both Charlie and Gary, if they enter, do so with scale models. Otherwise, the rest of us are beat before we start. 357 Misngth Misngth

Sounds good to me. Personally, I seed nothing wrong if someone wants to build a kit as-is, because inevitably they will need to paint and add/change a few details.

ABSOLUTELY!

Don, in the rules ?, No 1:1 scale permitted ? Big Grin
A structure challenge?

Well...twist my arm...

Okay, I'm in!

Galen
Hey, looking good. No complaints so far so unless things change, I'll announce the challenge rules in about a week.

I'll guarantee you, this being a structure challenge, I'm entering as well.... Welcome This of course, makes it a lot easier for everyone else since I usually fall in the, "also ran" category. Wallbang

Well Pete, I did say, "any scale". I'm assuming that you have an old Craftsman style house kit from Sears & Roebuck that you've been meaning to get to building since around 1935 Misngth Misngth
Nice... Thumbsup I'm in. Goldth
Sounds like a great idea
I like it! It would motivate me to finish something that's been in the planning stages for my layout.

Well...y'all got a good sense of timing...I'm just getting serious about building my roundhouse. Just looking through the Tichy site for windows....
So...We'll see what I can come up with.... Goldth

BTW....One of our fellow "lurkers" ran across my thread about the Lometta r'house, and sent me some copies of drawings from the original SF archives. So now I have prototypical information to aid in my constructiom..!!! Luckily the area I have set apart for it is just about the right size for it.... 2285_
Thanks Bob W. Thumbsup

S'more...Anyone ever hear of a magazine called "The Santa Fe Modellers News Magazine"...I googled it but only came across ONE reference to it..... Nope
I might have to watch this one from the siding.. I have nothing planned yet Sad i actually have to start getting the layout "spiffied" up to see if i can join in on the Open House Tours coming up in October (Lester Perry's buddies Smile Smile )

I may scratch something together, but I'll be a late entry and I may not finish Sad But we'll see......
Sounds good , But I'm following N-gaugers lead and watch from the sidelines . I got to get some work done on the layout.
