Since all my stuff is on the "other" forum it's time for me to start a new photo thread. Here are some pics of my Ten Wheeler for Tom.

It's a Spectrum 4-6-0 with some details and a diamond stack added for an old timey look. Still needs some dullcoat, the tender brake wheel needs to be painted, and rear headlight added. Also thinking of adding a slat or boilertube cowcatcher pilot.
Here's some cabin cars and an SW1 of my home road, the B&P.

And one of four hoppers I just got and lettered for the B&P. They are imported from Australia but look American enough for me, they have really nice detail, I really like them.

Sorry about the poor quality of the photos and lack of scenery. I am a neophyte photog... and have no layout right now. I do have a 1x6' Inglenook that I use as a diorama sometimes.

Nice stuff! That Ten Wheeler is sharp looking! Excuse my ignorance...is the B&P a real road or a freelance?
Ralph
Nice work Dave, I like the ten wheeler Thumbsup Thumbsup

The Baltimore and Potomac was a real railroad founded in I think 1872 by a bunch of Southern Maryland farmers and politicians. It was dormant and incomplete for 20 years or so when the PRR bought stock in, and funded the building of, the railroad. It had it's own rolling stock and locomotives but was controlled by the PRR, and became part of a scheme for the PRR to gain entry to Washington D.C. and connect with other PRR controlled roads in Northern Virginia that later became the RF&P RR. (a lot of people don't realize the RF&p from Alexandria, Va. to Aquia Creek, Va was built by PRR interests) The B&P was merged with the Philadelphia, Wilmington, and Baltimore RR and the Northern Central RR (both also PRR controlled) to form the Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington RR, the name it held on paper until the Conrail takeover. CR did much to consolidate the paper railroads during it's restructuring.

For much of it's life, at least from 1902 on, the B&P/PB&W was basically hidden, as all rolling stock and locomotives were marked PRR.

To make a short answer long, my B&P is a fictional version of an independent RR that survived without the PRR's funding, owns mainline from Baltimore to Alexandria, Va. and gives trackage rights to B&O and PRR, and interchanges with the RF&P.

Sorry for the long winded answer!

Dave
That's a very helpful answer Dave! Thumbsup Thanks for the background on the B&P. Your model concept of it is easy to imagine as a possible alternative reality. Very neat!

Well yesterday I decided to get my RF&P GP7 put together. It is a 2nd edition LL Proto 2000 unit. First I find that the long hood coupler won't fit due to an interference between the body and the frame. After about an hour of messing with the unit I take a straight edge to the chassis and find it is bent. Ok, so I have to disassemble the unit to straighten the chassis. Well I manage to break 2 solder joints so now I have to resolder them. Then I manage to break a tooth on one of the axles while disassembling the trucks. Luckily I have a Proto BL2 for parts, so now I switch the axles and wheels and now I can put the unit back together. What? The coupler box still won't fit! After all is said and done I had to trim the hood mounting tab off the long hood and VIOLA it fixes the interference and it all fits together nice and the coupler box goes in fine. Oh, wait a minute, why are my Kadee #5s too high for the standards gauge? Kadee recommends the #5 for this locomotive... oh well i'll save that for another night.

2.5 hours to get Kadees mounted on a locomotive that is supposed to be ready out of the box, and they're the wrong height at that.

Well, here's a bad pic of a pain in the butt loco, but it sure is pretty in person!

Today I joined the Dr. Wayne club, the locos and hopper car I purchased arrived at my P.O. box today. I am very impressed with Wayne's ability to turn a generic Pre-proto series Life Like into an outstanding model. At least I think it is Life Like. The 2nd unit is an Atlas/Kato. The crappyness of the photos is due to my lack of photog ability and camera flash, not the models. They are ready to enter lease service as the Pot Yard Drill Team if i ever get a layout built! you may remember Wayne posting about a twin hopper he built that didn't quite fit in with the rest of his roster, well here she is ready for coal service on the B&P.

He has thread open here with other items for sale. The stuff I bought from him was EXTREMELY well packaged and I would recommend him as a seller to anyone.

Thanks Wayne!
Dave
Thank you for the kind words, Dave. Glad to see that everything arrived safely, and that you're pleased with it.

New roster additions this week. I know they don't fit my era, but Conrail was my first love and I couldn't pass these up.

I love ebay! These models came from other collections, already weathered and such, except for the NS/CSAO caboose, which I always thought CR should have had red cabooses anyway. Icon_lol

Great Photo's. Thumbsup Thumbsup Thumbsup
Dave, No need to apologize for your photos! They are Gr-r-r-r reat!!! I also enjoy the equipment that you have! It all looks good! And thanks for the background info on the railroad. I'm relatively new to this part of the country, so I enjoy learning about the railroads, fictional and otherwise, that serve and have served this part of the U.S. Thumbsup
Thats a sweet looking caboose!
Who makes it?
Where'd you get it?
I guess what it boils down to is....I want one!
That 10 wheeler looks fantastic!

and well, love the conrail Icon_lol
Thanks guys. I guess I have to accept that my layout is probably going to amount to a bit of an anachronism, as I love all the eras and trains! I was planning on modeling the 50's, but I just can't leave out my Conrail!!

The caboose is a model of a real NS/CSAO caboose, made by Walthers. It is still in stock but has been discontinued. It is available individually, or as a 2 piece set. I bought the 2 piece set, it includes the red caboose and a CSX gray/yellow CR caboose, also based on a real one.

Thanks for the kind words guys!!
