At This time we vote on our trip.I set up a pole with a few choices. we'll tally up the votes in one week and see what happens.
I just wish I lived closer and could join the rest of you "Summer Campers" for the Camp Field Trip! I'd even write myself a "Permission" note!! Unfortunately, The state of my birth and upbringing, with some of the best railfanning spots in the east, is just too far away from Florida! This year in October is my 45th High School Reunion ... I'd love to goto that, too ... but again ... it's just too far away and too costly a trip at this point. Plus I'd have to make arrangements for oxygen up there ... a big pain in the arse!

Have FUN!!!.......................................... Thumbsup  Misngth

..................................... Take LOTS of Photos!!
I am definitely going to Summerail, the hotel is already booked, and I plan to go to the EBT Fall Spectacular.

Just wanted to add a link to the past discussion on this topic and remind people to vote. After the poles close I just ask that all that are going reply so that I could have a list of all members participating so we can come up with a meeting time and place, car pooling arrangements (if needed) and any other details that we may need to work out.
Just a reminder our trip is open to all members and their families. If you want to bring a friend along that's fine too.
I voted, fall. For me the humid and high temps are a bit too much for me in july/aug
The Fall Spectacular has several perks:
1) shop tours
2) M-1 trips
3) everything EBT related is usually open, including the Mount Union enginehouse (at least on my trip).

IMO, the shop is actually the single best attribute of the very best historic railroad in the US.
Just a reminder it's the last day for voting. poles close tomorrow. Thanks to those you that have already voted.
Alright, The masses have spoken. were going to the fall spectacular Oct 8-10. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.ebtrr.com/fallspec2010.php">http://www.ebtrr.com/fallspec2010.php</a><!-- m -->
mark your calendar and see you soon.
As a west-coaster who cannot attend, I think folks made an excellent choice. I've wanted to visit the EBT for a long time, especially during the fall season. If money wasn't tight, I would have seriously considered attending this trip. I hope you all have a great time, share a few laughs, and take lots of good photos Goldth .

I have to agree with you, Michael. While I've not seen the inside of the shop in person, the photos in TRAINS magazine several years back just blew me away.
I've visited several times and the experience is, for some strange reason, very evocative of my childhood memories of trains in my hometown.
On one occasion, when there were no trains running, I had a short conversation with a guy who was working on the turntable, and who then invited me to "Go have a look in the enginehouse - you can get up on the locos if you want." I had no film left in my camera, and no flash either, but it still made for a great memory.

I'm going to need a head count for the fall spectacular in October, any one that is going or, might be going please reply to this thread. Thanks.
I'll be there if it's at all possible.

I'm planning on going.
The trip is coming sooner than you think. We need to set the date . The Fall spectacular is on Columbus day weekend, Oct 8,9,10. I would like to make it Saturday the 9th and the 10th as a rain date. Any other suggestions for a date post them here.
I might be going to the Fall Spectacular.
