...every once in a while, someone will post something in one of our Forums with a reference to GERN, often creating a minor flurry of questions about it. (There's a little background info on GERN HERE.) I'm taking this opportunity to invite anyone interested in becoming a member of the growing family of GERN modellers to drop me a PM. It costs nothing to join, and there are almost no rules or restrictions (if you're building GERN rolling stock, contact me so that I can assign an otherwise unused number). You can be working in any scale, and modelling any era. You don't even have to have a GERN plant on your layout, although they're intended to be traffic generators, and so usually are a useful addition.

I'll require an e-mail address in your PM, too, in order to be able to send you some attachments of GERN stuff - signs, ads, promotional material, etc. (For some reason, I have to send it as two e-mails, as there seems to be a limit on the number of things which I'm able to "attach".) As my brother sends me new stuff, I forward it on to all GERN modellers. You're encouraged to use it as best suits your needs, and to expand on the theme, even creating your own material and, hopefully, sharing it with the rest of us.

Feel free to ask questions or comment here, but don't post your e-mail address here. I don't share them with anyone.

Thanks Wayne! I've found the periodic mailings of GERN ads to be worth the effort of joining alone! Imaginative fun stuf! Goldth The whole GERN concept has been fun and motivates a lot of creative work among members who have decided to include the remarkable business on their layouts.

I agree Ralph. DocWayne has done things right and kept it fun. The entire GERN world is one of my favorite things about my involvement in the hobby.
