Hi All:
Has anyone been to one of "The Great Train Expo" shows lately. They have one scheduled this weekend in Tampa and a few of us from Fort Myers were thinking of driving up; about a two hour trip. On the exhibitor list there are 38 individual exhibitors, that seems a little bit shy to me, but then I haven't been to one of these events. I was wondering if anyone has been to one lately and what their thoughts were.

Went to the GTE in Louisville KY back in January and it was the worse one I'd been to in several years. Many vendors absent from previous shows - more Lionel and Thomas The Tank Engine stuff than anything else! Did manage to pick up a few HO cars that I'd been looking for and a couple of interesting videos, but that was about it. In the past there had been more book vendors, not to mention model railroad vendors. Usually one or two brass dealers, but none this year. A couple of the local modular railroad groups had layouts set up, but not as many in past years either.

Friend and I went away thinking that the show was just smaller because of the economy and the weather being colder than a well diggers butt. Of course this doesn't mean that the show in Fort Myers won't be better.
