Well I took a leap today and picked up 3 GE projects. Ones a RPP shell/chassis GE 8-40B for athearn gear, ones a Bachmann B23-7 UP, and the other I'm still trying to find out what it is, it's an athearn shell/chassis and looks like a mix between a U36B nose and a U30B body

Projects should start soon, they'll all be Blue with a can opener on them Goldth
Geez, Tom! A road diesel isn't safe with you around ...
... if it needs a home, you grab it and set it on your rails ...
... after you've given it a makeover and had it fitted for a new suit! Big Grin 357
I actually target UP's and I have a reason behind it 219
OK, what's the reason?

I use to know a good friend who works at corporate, in the cost cutting dept. He use to talk about how he knows how its like for blue collar people like me. It was bull since his mommys paid MBA degree got him there and he cuts things back for the backbone workers. Suffice to say I'm not his friend anymore.
In the GE mix I added a SD40-2 in the paint shop for the new colors

The black shell looks like a U28B. Not up on my HO, but didn't Athearn make the 28 and 33 but not the 30? As I recall, Conrail had U28Bs, and their only U30Bs were early ones (late U28B carbody).

O.K., Tom ... so far, so good, I guess ... I understand why you don't like what this guy's job is, or the fact that he's the one who does what he does to make a living, but that's his job ... someone would be doing the job, whether it was he or someone else. What I don't get is how any of that relates to your relationship with him as a person or how any of it relates to scooping up Union Pacific diesels and diesel shells -- I'm still just as mystified as ever as to the connection! :? :?

Athearn made a monsticity of a shell which tuned to look like several u-boats. From what I've matched though conrail prototypes, the U30b seems like the better choice, I chopped the nose light which wasn't on a 28. So the other choice with the venting in the back would be the U30

This is the U30B:

U28B:

As for the U28B, the rear is close but it's still missing some smaller vents in front of the larger vents in the back
Only U-boat with the nose light as far as I check was the U36, and the venting is too different

U36B: (nose note)

It's way beyond that which I'm not getting into, but basically he lied out his ass to me about knowing how hard ass working folk like me are like and can relate, it's not about his job, it's his attitude about it. He wasn't a friend it turned out. When I sad corporate I was referring to UP.

So yeah, makes me feel a bit better burying a yellow and red when I get a chance Thumbsup
"So yeah, makes me feel a bit better burying a yellow and red when I get a chance " Model railroading can be so therapeutic.
Cheers
Now it all makes sense .......................................

.............sorta.
Small update, being working on some decaling and darkening out some vents, been a rough time going though a ton of prototype photos looking for angles/sizes/locations of the lettering and logos, but I've got most of the info done for 3 of them. I havent started on the B23-7 yet (all the way to the right but not fully visible)
