Allrighty then. Nothing like procrastinating till the last few moments possible.
N scale - finish up my dock/wharf/waterfront scene. At the beginning of this project, I pretty much had blue foam and cork. To finish up this scene, I needed to cover the whole area in concrete and fill in the docks with water.
Here's what it looked like once I finally decided on the height of the water line...

Here's some pictures showing the development and progress of the waterfront walls...

Throw that one on and it looks good...

Let's make some more...

I didn't do a very good job of documenting the next in between steps. In fact, I'm going to jump right to the finished product...

Happy New Year!

That looks great! Thumbsup

I've been wondering if I should use the same finish on my own waterfront walls, or just use plain concrete. Those pics are a huge inspiration, thanks for sharing!

Svein
That is EXCELLENT!!!! Thumbsup Great work on the concrete surfaces and the water! Love it!
Ralph
talk about your procrastinators!! I'll give you credit for submitting just under the wire! And a great looking scene, too.
Better just-in-time, than never... Great job, just tell me that you didn't start on this yesterday morning Nope
Thanks guys! I actually logged on last night to post those to my layout thread. However, upon reading a couple other EOY challenges, it occured to me that I could enter them as my own EOY challenge instead.
Don, I've been working on the walls for quite some time but the major push of work has taken place over the last couple of weeks. I'm pretty much happy with how things turned out except I can't seem to keep the water from being a major dust magnet. I used WS Realistic Water with a green painted base and blue dye added to the liquid.
Very nice. Is the big ship in the second photo going to sit in the slip? Will it be removable?
Yes that's what's planned anyways. As long as it does not stick to the water, it will be removable. I guess that will be next years EOY challenge! Icon_lol
You won't be able to do anything about the dust. It's dusty here, period. You just notice it quicker on the water, but I guarantee dust accumulates on the rest of your layout at the same rate.
