I recently purchased an Atlas HH600 with sound/DCC in NYC livery. Unfortunately #805 is post-renumbering and the lettering was too late for the period I wanted to model (the photos I found still showed the loco in the old number and lettering after 1940.)

The Belt Railway of Chicago (BRC) purchased three HH600s in 1934 and 1935 and this livery would be more suited to Sweethome Chicago, so I decided to repaint the loco.

After a plea for photos, I received photos of #302 and 303, both of which showed significant detail differences from the Atlas model, and which would take major surgery to correct, I decided to do the repaint anyway, especially as it was so difficult to find the detail photos in the first place.

Here is the finished repaint.

NICE!!!! Thumbsup That is so well done I don't even mind seeing the NYC logo go away. Goldth
The flat black and weathering make the loco so real looking in your photos!
Ralph
It's a real beauty, Jon!
Very nicely done!!!
great job on the Alco, I need to pick up one of those for my self..
That looks great, and the scenery is beautiful too. Great job! Cheers
Thanks for that guys

A quite simple and rewarding re-lettering and weathering job that has produced a nice little loco in a short space of time

A few more photos of the HH600 switching at Sweethome.

Those last three photos - you took the module outside and photographed it against real trees, right? Wow, that is absolutely outstanding. I'm sure some outsiders would consider this place full of excessive cheerleading, but it seems to me that the people who get all the kudos here for fine model work MORE than deserve it. I always love looking at the photos of your incredible modules trying to find that one thing that gives it away as a model - and usually fail - the combined quality of the work and the excellent composition of the photos really makes one wonder sometimes. Thumbsup

Doesn't hurt that I always liked Alcos.

Randy ... you really need to "subscribe" to Jon's YouTube videos and watch his tutorial on how to make those trees ... the ones that are not there because he moved the module outside ... because he didn't ... those trees are on the module!

Jon also has a "Tree Toot" right here on Big Blue!
