Gee, someone obviously isn't interested in the Eastern PA/NJ area

I make extensive use of libraries and borrowing from my father. When I do buy a book, it is usually one that is hard to find (Hawaiian WW2 Photo Album) or a technology study (Birth of California NG, John H. White's books, Car Builder Dictionaries, etc).

Yeah, the main county library is right near my home, but they don't have anything exciting in the way of railroad books. the good ones they have i already owned, and bought before they did. At least i read them though. Many books i got for free or discounts on the understanding that i'd read them, and boy do they get read. I think i need to got o my library to help put new covers on some of the books.

ah, i only see the Conrail Volume one. I've been meaning to find a Volume 2. Still, nice book shelf, more train books than mine.

If you're talking about the Scot Hartley Conrail books from Railpace they are both there side-by-side.

nah, I saw them, I meant i've never gotten aroung to purchasing them. Same with the Motive Power review books. Technically, the books i have satisfy my research needs as far as my layout goes, but Conrail is my favorite class one, so i''m always looking to add to that collection.

Almost definitely going to buy "Conrail in Color Volume 1" when it comes out around May from Morning Sun books.

Only book I have is Railroads of Pennsylvania. Picked it up at Steamtown on the gauge trip

Most of mine are related to railways in Eastern Ontario (e.g. Over the Hills to Georgian Bay, In Search of the K&P (out of print about the Kingston & Pembroke Rwy), or around my hometown of Orangeville (Steam Trains Through Orangeville and maps, etc). I also have a couple of Ian Wilson's excellent series, and CNR related documents and maps.

Mine is, naturally, mostly Reading Railroad books, but I don't have them all recorded like my locos and cars. I have 3 small (2 shelf - well they are 3 but only 2 levels of full-size books and magazines fit) booksheves full of my Model Railroader and other magazine collection, in plastic orgainzers with the year labeled. I have another of the same shelves filled with books, then I have stacks of magazines alewhere as well as some books in boxes yet, I need move bookshelves. These fit nicely unde rm,y layout, as opposed to a big tall one that would hold more but be an obstacle to build around.

What a great Idea this thread was, G. Cab!

I've been cataloging all of my other model railroad stuff in an Excel file ... Locomotives, Rolling Stock, Structures, Vehicles, Etc. So why not all my Reference Materials ... Hard Bound, Soft Bound, DVD, VHS, Periodicals, Prototype Documentation ... all of it??!!!

Great Idea ... and probably an eye-opener! Do we all know how much stuff we REALLY have?

This will take at least a couple minutes to gather together. 8-)

As I sit here in my study looking at my books I see one shelf about 16" long that contains my railroad books. I see 5 shelves about 48" long and 4 shelves about 16" long that contain my Bible study books.

I'm organizing my railroad room now prior to building the layout. My library is divided between cars and railroad books. My current project is to go through all of my model railroad mags and cut out the articles that I want to save, and put the rest into the recycle bin. Most of my railroad books are on the Santa Fe. My latest interest is in finding any book or magazine that has color pictures of the interiors of Santa Fe passenger equipment. It is amazing how many rail fans took photos of the exterior of passenger trains in the past, but almost no one ever took a pic of the interior!
