Hello!

No the 0-8-0 thread is'nt dead, but there are now some other projects needing more attention.
I got some Baldwin early 1900's brass steamers to rework, remotor etc. them to running condition inclusive DCC installation.
The older brass models had rel. big open frame motors which filled the cabs. Often there is no cab floor also.
After remotoring with much smaller, but powerful coreless coil motors there is big space to fill.

The first attempt to made part of the boiler inside the cab and boiler backhead out of 0.2mm brass sheet.
But the backhead is still plain. Of course you can buy a lot of brass parts to detail the backhead, but i was adwised to keep the costs down.

So i made some experiments:

At first i found in my grab box a boiler backhead, not really suitable and not really correct. But it was for experimental use.
At second i have some very thin copper sheet, about 0.05mm.

I laid the copper sheet on a rubber block, in this case i grabbed my rail cleaner.
Then laid the plastic baoler backhes upside down on the sheet.
Taking some brass block an a hammer and hammering down the backhead inti the copper sheet.
No fear the plastic backhead does'nt break, the soft rubber prevents damage.

The result of my attempts. The boiler backhead ist no more plain.
Next to do is to paint matte black and look after drying how it will be look then.
