While watching paint and glue dry (not very exciting) I decided to start building a new factory for the Z layout. The building is completely scratchbuilt using styrene. You will notice in the first picture that the plastic is black, but at $2.00 for a piece 15" wide by 44" long by .060" thick I can suffer with it.

In the second photo the buiolding has a coat of white primer so it shows up a little better.

In the second pic you may notice the lefthand door opening is further from the end. There was nothing wrong with the origonal location except for the realastate the building will be setting on.There was no way to get a 50" boxcar lined up with the door. Wallbang

Anyway, this is what I have accomplished since 1600 hours (4 pm for those that don't know military time  ) yesterday 10-21-11.Supose I should mention that this is only the core,it will be covered with Evergreen siding.
Looks like the makings of a serious rail customer! Thumbsup

Yeah, that's what I thought ..... until I saw it in White primer.
Really, I thought we had another Government "Black Project" going here. Eek 357 357 357
Waitin' to see how this one turns out....... Popcornbeer Big Grin .....should be done by -------- Zero Dark Thirty ?? Wink

Now that I think of it, most of my "new modules" work has been done between twenty dark hundred, and zero dark thirty. Icon_lol
Better be sone sooner than that ,The layout flaunts it's new look on 12-4-11. Eek
More pics, yep it's still white, but there's more done to it, Eek

Half of the roof is done

It is removable like this

roof is long, narrow, until I did this quite flimsy.Rear part of roof will most likely be glued down, but I wanted this part removable so I could add detail that would be visable through the open doors.

A little teaser. Concidering building a berm across the right end ,up the backside ,and around the front to the truck bay.The right end will get a concrete deck ,and some picnic tables leftend (front shown here ) will get one set of steps down to parking lot.

Oooh, I like that! Nice color choice too. Reminds me of a lot of industries I've seen.

Took a new update photo while I was waiting for the glue to dry.

I was getting bored watching the glue dry ,so I made this. This is my first scratchbuilt Z scale store and it is named for my daughter Lynda. Proper name is "Lynda's Lair"

Lynda's Lair, about as done as it will get till I have more buildings done to go with it.

Just one question Catt.. How large of a building are these? Just trying to get a feel for the size of z scale. Big Grin
This update is as much for the layout as it is for A.R.Curtis Mfg..
