Tell us how big your train room is... Im curious to see what most of us have in the way of train room sizes

My room right now is 10x12'

Keep in mind this is not just my train room, its my bedroom LOL

My current layout occupies two sides of our dining room. So while you can't really say I have a train room, I do have a dining room occupied by trains. HOWEVER, it looks like I've got the green light to start construction on my new layout which will occupy about 200sf.

My train room is 10' x 23' (I walled off an area of my Garage) Narrow, but long.

Mine's 12 by 20. Its half the finished side of my basement.

It's around 12x12, or it will be when it's finished. It's in the basement and I will have to share the living space.

When our house was being built, I was able to get the developer to have a couple of doors moved so that one of the bedrooms opened up to what was going to be my den rather than opening up to the hallway. So I have a dedicated bedroom which is about 10 x 12. That includes room for a workbench and some storage units.

I picked 10X12 as it's closest to my 9X13. But that's only the train room. On the other side of the basement is my shop which is also about the same size. That's where everything gets done that doesn't need to be done on the layout (kit building, repairs, wheel cleaning, etc.).

Excess equipment (rolling stock, scenery supplies, kits, etc., are in another room. It's nice to have a four bedroom house with a full basement and a walk up attic. It's almost enough room for the two of us.

The one I am about to lose is 17X28 feet. The next one has not been determined yet, a lot to think about starting over I have lots of ground, but no building to work with. No basement in the new home but there is a 17X32 Garage that could be utilized

Mine is maybe 16x18 with restrictions -- I have 2 feet around the outside. Then there's the fireplace and stairs and a door.

My train room will be 9 or 10 x 12, but I'm only using two walls for a 7' x 9' "L" shaped switching layout. It is a spare bedroom, but my wife wants to keep the rest of the room available for other uses. Since my passion in model railroading is industrial switching, a 2' wide 7' x 9' "L" is perfect for me. Basically the distance from the door when fully open to the corner of the room is 7' and the distance from the corner of the room to the edge of a corner window is 9'.

15x16 and wish I had our entire basement

I voted 18x20, but the area I can use is closer to 18x26, which is half of the basement. I wish I had the full run of the basement. It would be closer to 18x70.

Mine is about 560 square feet, down from the 930 which it was originally supposed to be. Because it's such an odd shape, I also ended up with sharper (and more) curves, and much steeper grades.
I plan on moving my "Layout Tour" photo thread over here, soon, but here's a not-to-scale drawing of the room for now.

Mine is 19x25, and double decked. I don't know what I was thinking!
