Just saw an article on mini ( as in cost saving ) apartments in San Francisco .... 160 sq.ft .....yeah , you heard right ! Living room , kitchen and bathroom , " only" $900/month .

I couldn't help think about the guy who wants a layout too ....think he needs to talk to Tyson Rayles , our small layout ambassador Icon_lol

I had a small studio while in college (not in San Francisco, though) that was probably around 200 square feet. I did some modeling activities in there, and thought about whether a small HOn3 shelf could fit. But, I was much too busy with schoolwork and decided my efforts would be better spent on other tasks.
"Only $900 a month"...Gee...how generous of them. Icon_lol

I'm not sure if model railroading (stereotypes about San Francisco aside) would be the first choice of hobby for someone who wanted to live in San Francisco that badly anyhow. Sometime in my twenties it began to dawn on me that if I wanted to do more than build kits and store them away in boxes, I was going to have to make some serious lifestyle choices -- maybe that's some of the actual good in the hobby, when you get right down to it.
