Radivil,

Any progress?
I've been a little busy lately. Major "sit down with the family" holiday and a milestone birthday (30) plus other interests have been pulling me around. Namely girls, doing the taxes, and test riding bicycles. And a significant railfanning expedition. Which I didn't take nearly enough pictures on. I'm bad at getting the camera up when I'm gawking at something. Like the other day when I had a once in a lifetime shot when a CSX special movement went through consisting of a single 15" naval gun on a flat. It was enormous.

But I digress.

I checked this thread because Mr Pete was kind enough to supply me with his drawings. I anticipate being able tweak it to fit available window castings and start from there.

On the subject of "tweaking" ----- The building, as "guesstimated" ( wow! spell check didn't argue with that word ) is too large for the "appropriate area on the modules", so I guess I'll have to "Tweak" it to fit the space........or, in other words, design a "smaller building-on-a-barge", while maintaining the general appearance of the original. :o  Wink
I'll be keeping an eye on this thread to see how your model turns out. 8-) Big Grin
Ok, so almost a month later, I've come back to this.

I wasn't able to obtain actual measurements but I did get to go inside the building, took some more pictures of it, and was able to determine the doors are seven feet tall.

I've decided to go with wood except for the roof, which will be styrene for that metal look. Its also been decided that rather than try to do a to scale construction, I'd obtain doors and windows of approximately the correct look and size and go from there. Other than Grandt, Tichy, and Rusty Stumps, who else makes appropriate parts?
was just looking in my 1994 Walthers catalog. I only buy one about every 10 years or so. I found the following companies carrying doors & windows and structure details: Alexander Scale Models, A M Models, B H Models, Durango Press, Campbell Scale Models, Dyna-Model Company Finishing, Micro Engineering, Model Masterpieces Ltd, Master Creations, Pike Stuff, and Sequoia Scale Models. Another possibility is Monster Model Works.

Jimmy does custom laser cutting of parts or even will do custom building kits if you don't find suitable windows and doors from any of the previously mentioned manufacturers. I would also look into getting a pre-made stair case and railing assembly as well. Again if you send him the picture, Jimmy could probably knock out a laser cut stair case kit.

Huh, this is interesting. In my folder of ideas of things I'd love to build, there's a little PRR/B&O tower from back home that's got some distinct windows that would have to be custom made...
I was at a train show today and impulse purchased some windows and doors. Not enough or the right size for the dormers, but got some stuff to restart this stalled project. Made a little paper mock-up.

Now that I've spent money, obviously the project must proceed. Suitable windows will be ordered with the wood.

The only thing I have to think about now is what to DO with the thing once its built. I have no layout right now and what I did have (everything's in storage) isn't the sort of place that a building like this would fit in. Once I have the space for a layout again, that is.

You wrote in your first post in this thread: " that I think could make a neat little diorama".
I guess you will build a neat little Diorama around the building Wink
nice mock up of building,

I have a few projects in the works that have been on hold until bills are paid and hobby fund replenished. Icon_lol

the building will look great when completed. Thumbsup
