As some of you know, I've been recently contemplating adding a turntable to my son's & my small British switching layout ...

We've now made some progress. I just recently installed an Atlas turntable to the left end of the layout -- the layout has grown from 1 x 4' to approx 1 x 6' now. The 1x4' was basically finished and scenicked but it now has this new addition.

I've just finished the wiring tonight & the layout is working fine. I still have some work to do -- realize I have wires everywhere, so I need to tidy that up. I will also probably add scenery to the turntable area, unless I use it as a fiddle yard (it practically is a fiddle yard).

Please let me know your thoughts re this layout so far. Thanks in advance!

The turntable looks great, and should be a nice addition...

but...

We need more photos of the rest of your layout! It looks awesome!

Thanks, Kevin! I'll try to post some more pics of the other end of the layout. It is basically done but I've been adding a few more details -- as you probably know, a layout is never really done!

Cheers,
Rob
Here are a few more pics of the other end of the layout. There are two sidings and a line of track coming in between the sidings, into the TT.

Looks great Rob! That is really the drawback to the 15* spacing though - the use as a fiddle yard TT limits to three or four tracks at most due to wide spacing.

I am glad you find it useful, and nice to see it in action. Big Grin

Thanks, Andrew! Yes, that is a drawback re the narrow width of the layout. I had hoped to add a 4th set of tracks (to the left of the TT) but the set of hand switches are in the way. However, with some re-wiring, I might be able to move the switches further to the left and fit in that extra siding. At any rate, the TT is working well & I'm pleased with the result.

Thanks again, Rob
So, should I leave the TT area as an unscenicked fiddle yard or should I add scenery? Just curious as to your thoughts & reasons. There are a lot of wires that I'd have to cover up somehow in the TT area. Thanks, Rob
