I learned from my wife eariler today that Stein apparently died of a heart attack overnight. She has been Facebook friends with his wife ever since he and his family visited our house in July and ran trains on my layout. Stein's wife posted the news about his death today on their Facebook page. Susan is sending a personal mail to his wife to ask permission for me to make some sort of announcement on the forum. It has to be getting late in Norway right now, so I imagine I'll have more news tomorrow morning.
Aww MAN!!!!!! That stinks!!!! According to his profile he was ONLY 47 Eek

Prayers to his family.... Thanks for posting it here Ralph... keep us up to date...

Man... Just Unreal!!!!!
What can I say, it's a shock, so sudden and so young. Thanks for this heads up Ralph, and keep us posted. By all means post an announcement as soon as you can. Boy, what a loss...
That had to be sudden, he posted a new thread this morning around noon Pacific time. That's around two hours ago. Let's see what his wife says before you post anything.
The timing of his last post confuses me. Here's what I know. Susan called me at work around 2:00 CST to tell me she saw the Facebook post about Stein's death. I'm home waiting for her so she can show it to me when she gets home.
I'll keep you up to date.
Noon Pacific time is 9 PM Norway time today. This doesn't make sense. This confusing, so I'm glad you're holding off and thanks again for keeping us updated.
Hi,

Susan just showed me the Facebook post from Stein's wife Lora. Here is a copy of the text:

"Stein, my amazing husband for 15 happy years, the smartest and nicest man I've ever met, and the father of our two wonderful boys, died suddenly in the night.

We need you, our friends and family, more than ever. We love you all. ♥

The "Like...five hours" at the bottom is the "Like" the post button followed by a note that the post was made five hours ago. When I scroll over the "5 hours" a window showing 11:15 AM pops up (Central Time).

I really do not undersrtand the timing of the post.
I see him on the forum for the last time on Sunday

Don, are you confusing him with Svein? I'm referring to Stein who called himself steinjr on the forum.

Ralph

You are 100% right. I got an excuse though, at my age I'm lucky to see the screen. Yes, I did confuse him with Svein, and I apologize for that point of confusion. Both steinjr and Svein are from Norway, and that also threw me off.
Aww man! That's shocking news..

I'm speechless..
OK, now things, sadly, make sense. Sorry Don, I should have noted his user name to avoid confusion. OK, obviously we need to tell the membership about his passing. Should I just simply do that and add more information later if his wife Lora OK's it?

The membership deserves to know, so I would post something. There's no reason you can't post the note from facebook, I can't see where she'd object to that, then add more information as you get it.
OK, I'll make a post. Thanks guys.

Ralph
I made the connection to stienjr right away... I forgot about svein...

I know time zones are confusing though... Glad we got it straightened out Sad Sad: But it still stinks!!!

Well, if I looked before I reacted, it wouldn't have been so confusing. The names are so close, at first glance it was easy for any senior citizen to make the same mistake. Sorry folks... and you're right, it is a sad situation and really stinks.
