Hello Everyone---nice to see this thread restarted.I guess I've always taken old buildings for granted, assuming they'll always be there tomorrow but we all know that progress has little regard for old derelic buildings and finds the easiest solution is to tear them down to put up a parking lot.I grew up in Hamilton Ontario where the steel industry and manufacturing,as well as the railroads created an abundance of factories and structures that defined our landscape---sadly,most of these landmarks, including the roundhouses of the CNR and TH&B are now just fading memories.
My primary focus in photography has always been train related and I have neglected taking pictures of buildings ---until now. This thread has inspired me to look beyond the tracks and opened my eyes to look at all the potential in the older buildings and structures that Hamilton possesses.
Here's a shot that Charlie will recognize from a past railfanning trip

There is an old grain elevator (or so it looks) in downtown Plainfield, IL (which is in iis612's territory) right on the EJ&E tracks

here is another old homested this is a photo of it just before it caved in from snow.there is a site on the net called abandoned buildings that has some photos that could be used for modeling.
also there are other things that get abandoned beside's buildings the first pic would be easy to do with a jordan buggy kit this was a common sight in the 20's through the 40's as dobbin was replaced with the auto.

Well, I made a wasted trip to buy some paint today, but I remembered my camera so all wasn't a total loss. I have been traveling by this one since 1952. It was in better shape then. I stopped to get these pictures. I love the old curled wood and rusted steel. It even had an overhead belt drive so maybe it was a saw mill at one time.

While I was railfanning in Wampum, Pa the other day, I took some pictures of the old P&LE freight station that is there. Wayne, Nutbar and I shot train pictures here last summer, but I don't know if they took any pictures of the building.

Hello---while railfanning with Charlie and Doctor Wayne last June,I took a picture of this derelict station---I'm sure Charlie knows the location

Hello Ed, yes, that is the P&LE Railroad College station, located just below Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pa.
Here it is in October of 1983. I was in the building in 1995 when I first went to the Kiski, I think Pleco, P&LE land co. still owned it, and it was still in great shape. They go downhill fast when abandoned. It is a shame no one took it over.

"That", is one of those things that seldom ever gets modeled. The complexity of the "greenery", and the color mix of dirt, mud, and stone. The condition of the building. ( and is that a bit of picket fence, lurking in the brush ? )
Yup!, that would take a "few hours" of creative "aging", and "detailing" to accomplish.

Hello---here's some old railway stations in Ontario---the first shot is St.Thomas, then Jarvis and finally Waterford. The photos were taken in the early 80's---as far as I know, all the stations still exist today---I haven't been to Waterford in a long time but I'm sure the renovation work on that station was completed many years ago
