Hello everyone.
Over the years I have taken a few pictures of some very nifty buildings I was hoping I could someday model.
Well, I'm not getting any younger and since there are some fabulous modelers on this forum, I thought maybe a thread of structure photos would be an inspiration to others.
I did not take measurements on any of the buildings I photographed, but that just gives everyone a licence to build a size they need. I am going to post 2 pictures of an old gas station. ( For some reason you have to click on the picture to see the whole photograph) Nope It was about gone when I took the pictures, but if my memory serves me right it was a Quaker State station. It was located between Calcutta and Fredricktown Ohio on Rte. 170, and I remember my dad buying gas there a time or two.
I don't have a whole lot of these structure pictures but there are some neat buildings that would look nice on a layout.
If you have some to share please do, and let me know if you want more of these structure pictures.

I can only see the rooftops, but they do look interesting!

If you have to click the picture, you're viewing a thumbnail. The pictures are rather large, but I get scrollbars at the side and bottom so I can scroll to see the whole picture.

Mikey and Pat are working on the picture viewer, I'm leaving the solutions to this in their capable hands. 219
I am seeing it the same as you Don.
Looks like he got those pictures just in time! Did it fall in right after you snapped the shot?

Probably not, but the building just up the road, that was being built at the time the picture was taken, did! just a short time after! Goldth They don't build 'em like they used to! 2285_
I think this is a great idea for a thread!

I have a few pictures I'd love to share with you guys for structure ideas. Likewise, I'm looking forward to other contributions as well!

For my first post, I have Buffalo Waterfront Grain Silos.

That's it for now, time to run to class, but I will have more to share later on this evening.

Dan, Those are crying for Gern signs. Goldth . This would be a great addition to a railroad scene.
Russ, I don't know how long it lasted after the photos were taken, but that was 30 years ago and the building has been gone for a long time now. I'm glad I got the pictures when I did. I hope to model it both as it was in the early 50's and then in the late 70's. It is amazing how fast they go when no maintenance is done.
Here are some pictures of a clay mine in Cannelton, Pa. It did have rail service form the PL&W at one time but the tracks were gone in 1976 when I took these with an instamatic.
And one more. I am posting the same way I have always posted, with the same sizes, now it treats these like thumbs and you have to click on them.

On "The Forum That Shall Remain Nameless", we had a thread for posting interesting structures.
If you do a search "over there", I'm sure you can find it.
Don't see why we can't have one here.
Anybody?....Someone?
Here's another building; the Jenny building formerly located in Rome, NY. Vacant since the 70s and torn down in 2005, it originally made car parts I believe and later became an auto repair shop.

I also get the scroll bars, and, if I click on the picture, get a larger view.

that was a beautiful old building you posted dan,its a shame they had to tear it down.im a big fan of antiques and old buildings and it really sucks to see them torn up everywhere.--josh
Those elevators look weirdly like German WWII submarine pens, or the U-boat factory at Farge near Bremen. Confusedhock:
