I need an irregularly shaped bridge for a particular area on my layout , so I started by making a cardstock template

I'm going to alter a Central Valley Single track bridge to fit the double track rhombus shape that I need

The frame is the big concern so I cut it apart and added some necessary styrene pieces to get the shape and width I needed , then test fitted the track that had been glued to the ties from the kit .

From there it was a matter of shoring things up to support the structure

...then adding both sides that I already painted and weathered .

The basics are done . I have to plaster the walls of the viaduct under the bridge , probably add a safety catwalk between the two tracks and finish up the rest of the scene with ballast etc .

Roadway under bridge has styrene strip glued in the center to help with paving the crown in the road . After sanding , it will remain as the centerline !

that looks like a lot of the bridges in Brampton. I've mentioned before that Brampton's roads run NW (a right angles to Lake Ontario) while the CNR line goes due west (right into the setting sun). So there are lots of bridges at 30 to 60 degree angles. Do you need any pics or are you beyond that now>
Other interesting note: Where some body other than CN paid for the bridge (e.g. grade separations) they were built for 2 tracks; when CN paid (rivers) they were only one track. There is one bridge that was between 2 river bridges and has had only a single track on a 2 track bridge for at least the 35 years we've been in Brampton. Until the expansion of GO Transit caused an extra track to be added in the last couple of years.
