The fact that nobody has talked about New Years ...less than 2 days ....kinda gives me my answer already Goldth

I haven't "partied" since about 1990 something .....stay up ( yawn ) until midnight , go out on the deck to get some fresh air .......then go to bed ! Used to watch Dick Clark , may he rest in peace . The other shows are , well , too noisy Nope Even the neighborhood is pretty quiet .Quiet is good Wink

We do the same thing we do every night, nothing special about new years
We're going to be by ourselves this year and plan to make Spanish "tapas" and Sangria. Maybe we'll turn the heat way up so we can wear shorts and vacation T-shirts. Smile
I used to work at various new Years events in my younger days,, so now I make it a point to sleep through it. I can say that I haven't been awake for a change of the calender since 1998 ( except last year when I lost track of time and glanced at the clock at 12:05 Icon_twisted ) So, I intend to hold to my tradition this year as well.
I celebrate with Londoners, in the comfort of home with a bottle of champagne. That's 6:00 pm local time. I haven't seen midnight in over 25 years and I certainly won't get on the road with all the drunks. Besides I have to get up the next day to work uninterrupted on the layout. It's the last day off of an 11 day shutdown at work.
People watchin', and making a resolution to NOT be like them! Icon_lol
Last time we did anything interesting was 3 years ago, when we went to Pasadena for the Rose Parade. We couldn't get in a regular campground (the one we'd been in was full that one night only) but Pasadena had camping arranged in a company parking lot (no hookups) so we were within walking distance with no traffic problems on New Years morning.

Radio station KUSC has a terrific program on Dec 31 leading up to (possibly past) midnight, but that's 3 a.m. for us here, and I just don't stay awake.
Even when I was younger and partied a lot I never celebrated New Years and still can't figure out why anyone else does either :?: .
It's always worked out well for me in the past so I see no reason to do anything different this year. Icon_lol
About 20-25 years ago we started to go to an early dinner to avoid the crowds, then to a movie and home. Maybe a bottle of champagne before bedtime. As the years went on, we stopped the champagne and then a few years ago we just couldn't find a movie that we liked so we stopped doing that. So right now, we'll keep our tradition of an early dinner and an early bedtime with memories of when we could stay up all night if we wanted to..... Wink

Just in case anyone was wondering, growing old is not easy, staying old is even harder... Staying up past midnight, just about impossible. Icon_lol 357
If we had anyone Scottish in the neighbourhood I'd be going out first-footing*, but they all seem to be disappearing.

(First foot into the house in the new year determines the luck of the household. Best is a male, tall and dark. He should be carrying food, drink and fuel. But coal is hard to find, natural gas hard to carry. )

I once worked with a guy that found it quite easy to carry natural gas. He shared it too. Icon_lol

Nothing..Too many drunks or drug impaired drivers on the road.

I'll be staying home and will watch movies..

I received a bottle of 12 yr old Single Malt Scotch, for Christmas. after reading the above, I've decided to stay home and "put a hurt on that bottle" 357 357 357 357

Since the invention of the "smart" phone:
It's probably safer, when the drivers are too drunk to find the buttons on their smart phones.

Scotch is good ...on ice ....cognac is even better ! Goldth Unfortunately I have neither .

I haven't partied since 1994. Coincidentally that is when I quit drinking. Won't be on the roads. I will probably ring in the new year either sleeping or in the basement working on one of my 10001 layout projects I have going.
