Morning! I've decided to get off my duff as well. My challenge: finish the hidden staging yard, including switch machines, wiring, control panel, and backdrop. The track has been in place, but I just haven't found the motivation to finish it. So, now I will have to get it done! Pics coming soon...

OK. got the switch machines in. I used some old atlas machines I had lying around. They are hidden in staging, so appearance doesn't matter. I wanted the turnouts to have a little spring action in them because I know I will run a closed switch sooner or later and I do not want to have to deal with a derailment in hidden staging. I added a longer pin onto the original throw-rod and secured it with heat shrink tubing -- this allowed a little spring action. A train can now run a closed switch without derailing. Of course, the added length to the rod meant a longer arc, so I had to position the switch machines a little further back from the points as you can see in the photo. Not very photogenic, but it will not be seen because of the backdrop. The electrical wires are in place, now to put together a control panel.

Next up is the control panel!
