Next year try Horizon buys Atlas..I was going too but, plum forgot.. Wallbang
Yeah, and Mikey and I could have announced that we sold Big Blue to Crowdgather.com too, Eek but even the faintest thought of that was so chilling and reprehensible that we dared not to even think about doing that, even as an April Fool's Joke.. Nope Nope Nope and Nope

Yeah, there are jokes and there are cruel jokes, but that would be unthinkable...beyond cruel. Eek Eek

The truth is that we are waiting for the Crowdgather's market shares to drop below one cents so we can buy them out and set all those other forums free and give them back to the people like they once were.......

Never heard of them Don.

Those are the guys that took over our old forum, and the main reason we started Big Blue.... Zealot membership took a big nosedive within months after they took over. They have been buying up forums like Zealot, just for the ad revenue source... Curse

So the advertisers keep tabs on "hits" to those sites to determine if their $$'s are well spent..??
So Crowdgather and Zealot are one in the same, or are they two different companies doing the same thing? As if it really makes a difference.

Yeah, basically they do. I think that they pay so much per hit, and they know where that came from. Zealot had ads when it was owned by Peter, but his were strictly from Google, and I guess they pay for allowing you to park their ads on your site. When Crowdgather took over, they placed ads in threads as well as the Google banner ads. That was the straw for a lot of people.

What it is, Growdgather.com owns Zealot and several hundred other forum and chat sites covering just about everything you can name. Motorcycles, political, cooking, scrap-booking, you name it, they have a forum for it. In addition, they own hosting sites where you can start your own forum for no cost. Just that you have to accept constant ads on whatever you create, and you are at their mercy. Here's a quote from their site trying to lure forum owners to "join" (readConfusedell your site to), the CG network.
Quote:You have spent countless hours cultivating your knowledge about rap music, organic food, or mp3 players. You believe passionately in the untold joys of scrapbooking and it has been worth it — even if it hasn’t always been easy to manage. This is where we come in. We are here to make it a little easier to pursue your dream.

BENEFITS OF JOINING THE CG NETWORK

→ JOIN A THRIVING NETWORK OF COMMUNITIES
→ SOFTWARE PLATFORM & HOSTING
→ SELL MY FORUM
→ MONETIZE MY FORUM

Their only apparent source of income is from ad revenue created from their "network" of forums.
The ad forgot to include, "RUIN MY FORUM"

Well, that's kind of implied, but I'm sure it's in the fine print in the contract. Icon_twisted

They couldn't even run their own forum. Remember the one they had at their web site? The one where we were all suppose to go to talk and get answers? After ignoring everyone that complained, the only ones that were posting there were the spammers. There were literally hundreds of spam posts that no one dealt with. They no longer even list the forums that they own.... I can see why. Icon_lol
2285_ 2285_ And so it was, in that dark time, that "The-Gauge", became "Big Blue" and lived Happily Ever After.
Yes, The "Dragons" and the "Trolls", and the "others of lesser nobility", still exist, but, in this realm, for as long as we can continue to repel them, we are safe and happy.
O K , there is "Kim Jung Oops", and his N.K. "missiles" :o :o Eek :o :o Wink Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

We must be talking about a different site that the old one. I was just there and it hasn't got any more ads than any other the other comparable sites.
