I very recently purchased a pair of Atlas HO-scale RS-36 locomotive models for to detail into a Memphis dream ISL scheme. Is it me, or are the Atlas Trainman GP38-2 handrails much more coarse? To my eye the RS-36 'rails are much finer. Am I hallucinating?
You are right. The GP38 Trainman handrails are not as fine as the RS32. I assume the GP38 has been designed as a Trainman model with some simplifications while the RS32 became downgraded into the Trainman line.
Aha! Thank you!
If you want to fix the handrails on Trainman Geep, look for handrails from an Atlas GP40-2... They are available at Atlas for pretty modest cost.
Painkiller - Thanks for the idea. Actually, I'm ordering the Atlas RS-11 grabs set to use on the RS-36's. I've had good luck ordering parts from Atlas for many years. Ric
