Every now and then I post a trailer to a movie that might appeal to folks hereabouts. "The Young and Prodigious Spivet" is a movie directed by French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who directed "Amelie" and "Aliens 3" (now there's a combo). The film follows “a 12-year-old cartography enthusiast in an eccentric family, who travels across country hidden on board a freight train after being invited to the Smithsonian Institute.”

The movie trailer is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khawXJ3HjfY. Steer clear of the yard dicks, kid!
And stay off the tracks too!!!! Eek The brief scene of the kid crawling out from under the moving freight car was startling! Any idea how much of the film takes place on the train?
To judge from the book description, he's traveling for most of the story. Of course, like Silver Streak, he may make sidetrips.
Well, I rather enjoyed Silver Streak, despite the side tracks. Smile

Operation Lifesaver will have a fit. If you see the movie they may be very careful not to show anything that would ID the railroad that allowed this to be filmed. If that scene was not done with computer graphics, the whole crew is guilty of child endangerment.
I'm also seeing a lot of senior pictures taken with the subject laying on railroad tracks. I would expect better from a photographer. Railroad Trespassing is a real problem.

I'm sure that scene was done with special effects. A film that so endangered its star could not be insured. It's why Jackie Chan only did his insane stunts for his Hong Kong films—rules are different there! (Jackie has done some amazing stunts on trains.)
