Saw that on the morning news today. Unreal... 35 It's kind of a blind crossing, but they said that the engineer said he blew the horn three times for around 15 seconds.
After looking at Bing maps I think I found this and it is labeled 66th street in Rosedale Md. There are crossbucks, but the visibility at the crossing is poor. I will bet it isn't the first time he has crossed the track here, and he never even slowed down. You can see the truck approaching the curve in the road at the crossing. He should have had a window down and stopped and looked. At unprotected crossings In Pennsylvania you are required to Stop and make sure you can cross safely. In Ohio, you are required to yield. The road parallels the tracks for some distance before it curves and crosses.
We usually had a 5 car train on the KJR but it always amazed me how many people ran across in front of us. I hope he fully recovers.

The property owners at this crossing should have cleared the brush and trees for visibility, though I doubt it would have prevented an accident here sooner or later.

That's really informative.. and the pictures really tell the story of the aftermath....
After seeing the view from google earth, it appears this road leads to the trucking company land. It is the only place on the side of the tracks he was coming from. the road comes to parallel with the tracks and makes a 90 degree turn to cross. It would not surprise me if he was trying to beat the train. He will never admit that but the video is very telling.

Which leads to the question that the investigaters will most likely ask:

How many times has he "beat" the train.. instead of waiting for them to pass.. Sad Sad Sad
