OK, I realize this is an old thread but I just thought I'd quickly update it. All is well with my LHS :-)

I've been in several times since and have received excellent service. I think the problems above were simply one-off events due to their being busy and me being in a rush and maybe a little impatient. To be fair, I am a sort of fixture there as I often pop in to just see what's new, without buying anything -- but I still do buy quite few supplies over the year.
