Will anyone ever make an SW1001!? I know island model works makes a shell but read it's far from satisfactory. If I went with a kitbash attempt, does an sw9 frame (for the lower walkways) and a sw1000 hood seem like a good start? Also would the sw9 cab be the same? The sw1001 cab seems a little longer than the sw9...

Someone wrote an article in http://the May 1996 issue of Railroad Mo...n Magazine about kitbashing an SW1001. If You Google kitbashing an EMD SW1001 in HO, you get a plethora of ideas.

I read that article, it really makes me think twice about hacking up a bunch of different trains. It makes me lean towards the Island Model Works shell, some guy on ebay wants $100 for it though.
