Does anyone remember a photo (I think on this Big Blue Forum) of a warehouse (fruit?)with about a half dozen tracks all set at an angle so that second and third cars could be unloaded using bridge boards between doors of them and the car on the next track? I have seen it somewhere, but cannot find it again - If somebody can point me to it I'd be very grateful. I thought it was on the LAJ RR, but even searching that doesn't help. TIA
Jack
I remember seing it also. But I think it was in Model Railroader(or the same picture) issue some years ago.
One of their track planning articles if I recolect.
I think it is a photo of the old fruit terminal at Vernon, Ca. Andy ( lajry )was the poster.

The name of the thread was "Interesting track config for produce terminal" and I guess you refer to this photo

Here's the LAJ Switching Map from Charlie Slater showing the Los Angeles Produce Terminal. There was a plan for a 4 track spur on the internet 1-2 years ago. Another modeler in WI has built a 6 spur version of this produce terminal. Mine will be 10-12 spurs depending on how many can be "compressed" in a 2' x 8' space. The purpose for that track work was to be able to unload 3 reefers at once using planks between them.
The produce terminal was removed in mid '80s so the only way to see it is thru historicaerials.com. Use 4000 Exchange Av 90058 to get you to Downey Rd & exchange Ave. The terminal is in the SE corner.
Have a whole lot more pix of this lead but they are in my Google Picasa files & most people can't see them w/o Picasa. If you PM me w/ your email addy can probably send them that way.

Here's a link to my pix in Picasa Of the Los Angeles Produce Terminal:

Some may have trouble seeing them if you don't have Picasa, but it's free.

This image is from the produce terminal's last days when the building was used for just about anything but produce. That's a 20' Matson container down at the end.

Andy, I toke the link of the photo from your old thread here at Big Blue to illustrate what I assumed the question was about. Sorry, I forgot to mention you as the owner.
Thanks, guys ! I guess if I had thought of "Produce Warehouse" instead of "angled tracks at warehouse" I might have found it myself!
Your help is very much appreciated. This got triggered by making an offer, and picking up an S-12 from ebay, and having thoughts about an alternative form of a "scenic" fiddle yard - still thinking! Thanks again
