Big Blue's annual maintenance is scheduled for December 31st. We will shut down at 11:59 PM and be back online January 1st, 2015 at 12:01.

New Federal laws also dictate that we shut down for a three-day period once every three years. Because of that, we are giving you advance notice that we will be offline during the period of February 29, 30 and 31, just as we did three years ago. We regret any inconvenience this might cause anyone.

Will this be UTC (aka GMT), or one of the various other time zones - I'm worried that if I blink, or have to dash to the toilet, I may miss something so important

Thanks for the advanced notice. Do you have a link to understand the background of that odd legal requirement.

I'm not sure I can tolerate not having access to the forum that long on the 31st!!!

Yes we do have a link to this obscure federal regulation. I'm afraid though, like all the rest of the federal government, nothing works this time of the year including that link.

How can you expect us to put up with such a huge outage ??????? But maybe if you give us next year at half price ?

We are really sorry, but this is totally our of our hands. We will be adding a link for those of you that wish to fill out the paperwork to get a pro-rated refund that ngauger mentioned, in addition, we will be offering a small token of appreciation for those that do apply... shipping and handling is NOT included though.

I probably won't notice as I plan to listen to the New Year's Eve program on KUSC.

We'll let you know at 12:01... I'll be watching New Year's Rockin Eve and thinking about the Mummer's Parade the next morning So I won't know if there will be a 2 minute outage either
