Yeah, talk about being confused. Last fall, we decided to move and so I dismantled my train room, turned it into a bedroom, and took my layout to the landfill. My workbench also followed. About two months later, we decided it wasn't the right time to sell, plus we had no idea where we were going to move to, so I took the bed frame I built and turned it into a base from my new layout. I also built a new workbench. All was well, but I was a bit hesitant to start on a new layout, and with good reason. Yup, we decided this was the right time to move.... We found a new place about seven miles north of where we now live, and we signed the contract yesterday. It'll take about five months to build the house, so we have some time yet, but I guess I'll be taking down my layout base and converting it back into a bed frame. I'm not sure where things will go after that, I will have room for a small layout, or I might just choose to do dioramas for a while, but I am itching to build something. But anyway, here's a few shots of what I've put together and have to take down once again....

Looks like a good start, Don, I hope that the move doesn't end-up making it a false start. It shouldn't be difficult to move those things just as they are, and you can always buy a new bed frame if it's really needed.

Yeah, it's a blow-up bed there just for looks, so I need the support. I think I can just put short legs on the frame, leave the foam in place and when we get to the new place, I can put the long legs back on. Since we are downsizing, I'm going to be a bit tight on space, but where there's a will, there's always a way.... so they say....
Since you are downsizing have you considered a shelf style layout Don? It can be built in sections and easily moved to the new location. Mounted on brackets at 44-48 inches off the floor the furniture fits under it and you lose no floor space.

That's always an option, I'll have some extra space in the garage in the new house, I'll just have to wait until we move in to see what I can do. I'm downsizing my workshop as well. I'll find room since I've saved most of the structures from my old layout, and I want to use some of them since they're scratchbuilt and kind of special to me. I'll find a way, one way or the other.

Seeing this, I think I'll open a new thread, in"the Depot" / "Lower Berth" / " My early/earliest 'Railroad' models " with two photos of "Lindenhurst Coal".
Hope it catches on, and we can see some "early works", of our members.

That's a fun idea! I think that could go in the Upper Berth - it is train related after all.
