Hello all,

My plan is to build a scene in a 16 x 16(unless I can find a bigger box) inch pizza box. The scene will be built around 2 On30 boxcars from the Hayseed & Hicksville narrow gauge railroad I dreamed up awhile back. Keeping with the railroads rural nature it will be a siding with an unloading ramp/platform close to a small farmers market and a hillbilly village based on a HO punch out hillbilly village book from way back. The structures will be scratch built in O'ish scale from scraps of wood and or card stock some of the structures will be low relief or even in some cases forced perspective. I hope to have at least a station, a house and a barn with sagging roof. I if I can I will include a jug band and other rural figures. I intend to use the lid of the box as a backdrop. If all goes well it will look like a holler.

If I complete this project early, may try another smallish scene.
Sounds like a really great project I am looking forward to your progress!
Yeah, that sounds neat!! Especially if you can make the figures to liven up the scene Smile
Still in the gathering process of needed items to make the scene as I have imagined it, If I can come up with the jug band in O scale and the woodland scenic ho still for up in the holler it will be a great diorama. I have some broad leaf trees and a Smoky bear figure/statue that may find a place in the diorama.

I have a source for the figures just need to get ahold of them.

If all goes well I could see a small modular On30 layout come about.

Will try to photo the original village structures so you will have an idea of the theme( think HEE HAW, Petticoat Jct., Green Acers).

Need an On30 turnout not sure if I want a wye or a regular turn out. One box car will be on the siding and the other will be on the main with loco possibly.
I found the buildings that I will use as a reference for my version there of, there will be a small station with unloading/loading platform, a house, a barn that has seen better days, a farmers market and a still with a 3D mountain/ holler background(I found a sneaky way to accomplish this using a 16" x16" pizza box).

Will add photos soon of generic pizza box(clean never been used), the punch out buildings being used as a reference. This just mighty turn out halfway decent and will be good scenery practice. 357
Well this is not progress but a starting point.

First we have a couple pics of a run of the mill pizza box(medium 16"x16")

And here is a teaser of the structures to be used and altered to fit in the diorama.

I have already started on the barn but camera needs charged up Wallbang
Got some hillbilly figures in from scenic express today 2285_ just need to get the jug band and the still, everything else will be scratch and kit-bashed.

Camera charged up pics to follow Sunday, have to turn in for an early shift in the morning.

Glad to see Big Blue up and running again 2285_
I can't WAIT to see what you make out of this!!

May try one also...
But my only On30 loco I have left, is my 2-8-0...
It wouldn't move far! [emoji14]

Well all the figures needed have came in now, cut up some dense foam to fit in the box as a base for scenery, already have the basic scenery materials and the barn structure is mostly done just need to do a sagging roof and weather the barn. Next I will do the station and a house and a farmers market stand, it is going to be a busy scene for sure I hope I can do a good job of it. I am about to enter the busy season at work last of Oct. threw mid January lots of adds to be inserted into the papers(my employer prints its own newspaper plus several other papers and inserts adds in them all a very big logistical undertaking as the adds come from other printers to be inserted into the news papers).
Hope to upload some progress pics soon.
That's gonna be great!! Smile
Hi all,

Have not been able to do work on the pizza box due to work and tendonitis in left hand and wrist, well update progress as soon as I make some. Looks nice out so I might try to work on it a little today.

I have a solid concept of what I need to do with the scenery, I just need to come up with a brace that will hold up the background/scenery.
Glad I am not the only one who is stuck behind other commitments. I ma taking some time off for Thanksgiving next week and I plan to get some projects out of the way so I can work on my Pizza Box.
