If you really want to help the economy switch over to HO and seeing as its twice the scale it should help out the economy twice as much. Icon_lol

Actually I sold off 66% of my Horribly Oversize because I have no room for a decent ISL in HO..I kept enoungh HO for club use.
So there!! Icon_lol 357

I have decided to buy Gern Flux.

I would, but the part of the stimulus that would let me make the room for an HO layout got cancelled. Nope

It makes no difference. they are all made overseas. Try supporting your local economy buy from LHS Not internet suppliers

Les,I would but,its a 52 mile round trip and full price even if you are buying 2 locomotives or several cars..The man could cut some slack but won't therefore he gets about 2% of my hobby budget for odds and ends and on line dealers gets the other 98%..Did I mention he seldom stocks new products?

I am sorry but,I can't support a full price hobby shop that won't cut some slack on multiple or large purchases..
I undestand your situation. But I know of people in my local area who won't even check a new LHS for prices because it is just more convenient to go on line than drive 10 miles round trip. I support my LHS any way I can, including publicity.when I need a set of trucks or the screw that holds them on. he has it no problem. Get that screw from internet dealer. I'm sorry I will get off my box and be quiet.
Les.

How about when you run out of track connectors with 10 pieces of flex track on a Sat morning when your wife and a friend are going shopping for the day.
Les,The guy that owns that shop is a very nice guy and more then willing to order anything you want..He sells other items besides train stuff and seems to be doing a brisk business. At 10% off on multiple or large purchases he would see a lot more of my hobby budget...

I dunno but,one would expect a hobby shop owner to be more price competitive in order to draw more customers and to keep the ones he has...

As far as needing supplies..I can order from MBK and have the items within 4 days after I order-the same about of time it takes my LHS..I usually add the items(such as truckscrews, couplers etc) on my mothly order.Yes,I keep a parts inventory-that way I don't need to make a speical trip..

Of course its not mistake proof and I have found myself out of KD springs or couplers.... Icon_lol
I know this started out as the American recovery bill and I side tracked it. This will be my last post on LHS for now. I firmly believe we should support LHS. Maybe I should say if possible. I guess I am lucky for 10 years I had a LHS about 3 miles from me. His prices were 20% below list on everything He pasted away about 4 years ago. My wife wanted me to buy his business from his wife. I said no way. A friend did though. He is even closer to me, he also continued the 20% thing. The one difference is the original owner sold track and Kay Dees at his cost. He said everyone needs those 2 items, and his price won't be beat. When someone finds out about those 2 prices and the other 20% lower they will travel great distances to get it. Then they will buy something else and come back again. He was pretty smart buiseness man I think. th th th thats all folks.
Les
I, personally, find Lester's comments about supporting the LHS perfectly germain to the topic at hand. However, with more and more people showing up at the unemployment office, or the self-employed finding themselves hurting for money, we have to look out for our own bottom line.

I am also in agreement with a few others that the stimulus package is one HUGE spending bill. There needs to be money spent to get the economy moving again, but the oversight is NOT in the hands of the taxpayers. So much for transparency in government spending.

The only reason we don't have a different president is because the candidate that I was backing had the audacity to be honest, and admit that economics was not his strong point. That is why there are cabinet members, and advisors, ad infinitum.

There, I have spent my 2 cents.
