Remember when someone or something would put an add in the paper telling you to "Watch this Space" sucking you in hoping for an important announcement? Sometimes it would start months ahead of the announcement of an event that was going to happen some time later than sooner, but it got your attention.
The point being....Watch THIS space. Coming soon to a layout near you..

Everyone in East Tafftown has been hearing rumors that they are going to build a big plant of some kind on the old Burford Pottery land. It was torn down and the empty land has been vacant for over 20 years. There has never been anything released. It is a very closely guarded secret and some folks even think there is a conspiracy to let unscrupulous characters
gain control of the land. There was even rumors that there was a secret mine under the pottery that produced a very special clay that fired to a brilliant color without glazing. There is even a rumor that there is an aquifer under the land that would support a large distillery. (claims are the Burford Brothers would have done this had prohibition not been enacted.) They still hold the land title in their name.
City politicians have tried to get the state to lift gambling restrictions so rumors of a casino coming are also rampant.
Today the "P" company brought a trainload of construction equipment and some material and just tied the train down on the "Horn Switch"

Only time will tell.

I vote a GERN plant for communications lines to speed communications 3% faster. Thumbsup

What? You smear GERN on the telephone wires? 35
Add GERN Flux as an alloy.
Well, no one is talking yet. The crew showed up this morning and took the train to the uptown yard. there were so many cars there I didn't think they could get the cars to the spot, but the local yard crew was able to help. The first move was to cut the locals power away and move to clear[attachment=24378]
Then the yard crew brought the outbound cars and tied into the inbound and pushed ahead to clear the switch.[attachment=24377]Then the Yard switcher pulled clear to let the locals power couple to the train.[attachment=24376] The local power pulled the train ahead to the switch and cut the outbounds from the inbounds then pulled the outbounds in the clear.[attachment=24375]The yard switcher got the inbound construction cars and pulled them in the yard. The local coupled to their caboose and hightailed it out of there. There was no way to run around their train so they pushed back to the main. I was under Morris Trestle when they went by. I found it odd that no one was there to start unloading the equipment.
One of the best "gotcha" advertisement was a photo taken while standing in the gauge and looking down the track and in bold print: "Its coming!".

Yes, and like me I bet you hate seeing any picture taken from the gauge. I see these guys taking school pictures standing in the gauge and it makes me shudder. Never bothered me until I had the safety classes.

What sent severs up my back was watching a young couple walking the gauge of the NS main line pulling a wagon with a two or three year old child in it. That's part of what we call the Ho-Chi trail (don't know why its called that) since its a short cut from the Northside to the Southside/downtown area.. I seen several trespassers every time I railfan at the T&OC station.
A late edition of the Tafftown Daily Leader (which is only printed on Thursday) which came out on Friday due to the holiday has an add on the bottom of the page.[attachment=24401]
The editor has promised he will have his investigative reporter Ben "Scoops" Craft IV look into this.
